In the summer of 2025, an idea became reality in Vienna: Scala Stella, an independent book publisher with a clear mission. In a loud, fast-paced world, we want to stand for depth, quality, and the power of special stories. Our name is our programme: like a stairway to the stars, we want to pave the way for extraordinary ideas and niche topics to reach a discerning readership.
At Scala Stella, the meticulous creation of books is at the heart of everything we do. Every project we take on is nurtured with passion, artisanal precision, and a deep respect for the vision of our authors – from the first page of the manuscript to the finished book in your hands.

The founder
Behind Scala Stella stands publisher Farzaneh Spiess-Knafl. Her vision is to create a publishing house that acts as a reliable partner for authors while also being a home for readers who seek the extraordinary.
